Rezon’s flagship product, the Rezon Halos, is the only legally CE-marked protective headband in the UK and Europe, designed to reduce rotational forces to the brain by up to 61%. The product tackles the threat of sub-concussions, small force impacts that damage brain cell function, but do not produce evident signs or symptoms of concussion, so they go unnoticed and can lead to long-term brain health issues.
Founded in 2021 by CEO Judith McMinn, Rezon emerged during the pandemic with a mission to tackle Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), an early onset dementia almost unique to contact and collision sports caused by repeated, asymptomatic sub-concussive impacts. CTE is not linked to single concussions but to the cumulative effects of sub-concussions that silently damage brain cell function.
Key milestones underpinning Rezon’s success include winning Product Innovation of Year for PPE in 2023, the Spectator Economic Innovator of the Year Awards 2024 for the North East Region, wining the Pitch UK national competition in 2024 and making it to the final of the SantanderX competition from 850 businesses.

Rezon is also collaborating with Philadelphia cognitive health company, Cogwear, to develop Halos – Edge, a revolutionary headband integrating clinical-grade EEG technology to enable real-time brain injury detection and safer return-to-play protocols.
Set to launch later this year, the product will also give sport new and unique insights around player performance – with measures of distraction, engagement, focus, fatigue and team synchrony tracked and detected directly from the brain.
Judith McMinn said: “Our growth is a testament to our drive for innovation in brain protection and player performance and our commitment to educating the sports world on the importance of brain safety and its direct linkage to player performance in sport and life.
“Being recognised for Rezon Halos is incredibly rewarding. This recognition has provided us with a springboard for growth after a successful 2024, and we remain dedicated to advancing brain health innovation that prioritises protection and provides new insight about brain performance.”
“Our team of global experts across brain health, biomechanics, med-tech, protective design, and manufacturing, plays a pivotal role in advancing this mission, ensuring that every product we create is rooted in cutting-edge science and rigorous validation.
“Rezon Halos is not just an accessory, but a proven protective headband designed to mitigate the risks of brain injury in sport. By equipping athletes with the right knowledge and innovative protection like the Halos, we aim to empower them to pursue their passions without compromising their futures.”
