Newton Tony Church of England Voluntary Controlled School has been given an overall rating of ‘good’, as well as scoring ‘outstanding’ for early years provision and personal development.
Pupils are said to “love” attending Newton Tony Primary, a school where they are “safe and happy” and have a “rich set of experiences” during their time there, with organised trips such as to London Museums and local places of interest.
The inspector found that pupils feel “confident” to share their worries, and “parents are overwhelming positive about the school and are proud to be part of the ‘school family.”

Older pupils act as “buddies” for younger children, and early years children act as “helping hands” to support peers.
The school has “high aspirations” for all pupils, and children in the early years are found to “get off to an exceptionally strong start”, settling in quickly.

The curriculum is “ambitious and broad”, and early years children “are very well prepared for Year 1” due to “highly effective” teaching.
Outside of a focus on school life, pupils learn how to stay safe online and in different “real world” contexts. They also learn about the values and customs that unite different cultures and faiths, the report found.

Pupils understand the importance of treating others with respect and tolerance, which the inspector says “is evident in the ways they treat one another”.
Career talks are also organised for pupils, liked to their interests, so they can begin thinking about their careers from an early age.
