THURROCK’S “Give a Gift” campaign, supported by Thurrock Council, helped to ensure that vulnerable children and families across the borough could wake up to a gift on Christmas Day and enjoy a festive meal.
The campaign received incredible support from residents, local businesses and council staff. As a result, hundreds of toys and gifts were donated, as well as money for gift cards and food vouchers, which were then distributed to those most in need.
Through the generous donations, the campaign delivered:
211 gift cards purchased for vulnerable children aged 10 and over.444 Christmas presents wrapped and distributed to vulnerable children across Thurrock.46 supermarket vouchers donated anonymously and warmly received by families in need.A special thank you to HW Wilson, HDS Securities, Impulse Leisure, SEIB Insurance Brokers, Tesco and Thurrock Rotary Club who supported the campaign with gift donations.
Cllr Vikki Hartstean, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services and Education, said: “The ‘Give a Gift’ campaign has truly shown the generosity, community spirit, and kindness that defines Thurrock. Thanks to the incredible efforts of our local businesses, and the many individuals who donated, we were able to ensure that every child and family supported by this initiative experienced the joy and magic of Christmas.
“I am so proud to see our borough come together to make a difference. These contributions not only brought festive cheer to Thurrock’s most vulnerable children and families but also demonstrated the power of our community. I am incredibly grateful to everyone who played a part in this inspiring effort.”
