Organisers are hoping to give back to those who have worked in the Hamilton Street venue which re-opened at the beginning of 2024.
It is hoped that this will highlight how much it means to many people to have the iconic club back in operation once again.
The aim is that the fund will be used for staff when they get to have their own night out after the festive period.
Organiser Robert Wilson commented: “We just wanted to ask for a few quid to show our respect and appreciation for the Metro staff this year for their efforts keeping the scene alive this year.
“Let’s get them a drink for their night out, if anyone can spare a quid or two, I’m sure it would be warmly received!”
Many who have returned to the Metro have moved quickly to offer their support to the idea.
One commented: “Great idea. It was a absolute amazing feeling walking into a club that we all hold so fondly and have amazing memories of.
“Those memories all came flooding back, I had goosebumps and a electric feeling running over me first time.
“To see what the guys had done to rebuild it is first class. Now we can make new memories of this place and add to the old ones
“The Metro is once again a a home for us all and felt just like back in the day, an amazing place, hats off to the owners and staff for what they’ve achieved so far it can only get better.”
The gesture is one which has been warmly received by the men who kickstarted the club’s revival, Steven Miller and Gary Burns.
They added: “We really can’t thank our staff enough for all their hard work that has went into this year.
“From two guys who have been in construction all their days to take on a new challenge, they have really made our job easier, so here’s to you guys.”
