Former Fife College student to host BBC Radio 1 show

Megan Percival, a Eurovision super-fan, will present her specially curated show, “Eurovision super-fan Megan Percival has your ultimate guide to the biggest Euro-pop,” on January 13.

Ms Percival was selected as part of the station’s Christmas Presenter Takeover, giving her the opportunity to share her passion for Eurovision and play her favourite tracks from the contest’s history.

She said: “To be selected as part of Radio 1’s Christmas Presenter Takeover is an honour for me.

“I’m absolutely buzzing to have the chance to represent the mighty Kingdom of Fife and share the pure euphoria of Eurovision.

“Can’t wait to bring you some of my all-time favourite songs from the contest which all deserve your 12 points.”

Ms Percival’s success follows her recent achievements at the Student Radio Awards 2024, where she scooped two Gold Awards for Best Specialist Music Programming and Best Entertainment Programming for her show “All Things Alt.”

She is now a student at Sunderland University, continuing to make her mark in the broadcasting world.

This recognition of Ms Percival’s talent comes amidst successes by other Fife College media and communications graduates, including Sharrell Carroll, who won Boom Radio’s first-ever Gold Award at the Student Radio Awards 2024.

Jim Metcalfe, Fife College Principal, said: “We are thrilled to see Megan’s talent recognised on such a significant platform.

“BBC Radio 1 is the dream of many aspiring broadcasters, and Megan’s success is a testament to her hard work and dedication.

“It’s also a fantastic showcase for Fife as a hub of creativity and ambition.

“We’ll all be tuning in to hear Megan fly the flag for Fife.”
