Forest School at Clements Primary Academy, Haverhill benefitting from donation by The Firepit Company in Helions Bumpstead

A Forest School area in Haverhill has received a glowing upgrade, thanks to a generous donation from a well-known local firepit creator.

Clements Primary Academy in Greenfields Way was gifted a brand-new firepit bowl and tripod from the Firepit Company, which will enhance their outdoor learning experience and provide students with opportunities to develop valuable life skills.

The Firepit Company, located in Helions Bumpstead, is run by Jason and Diana André, who took over the business last year.

With their backgrounds in education and a shared enthusiasm for outdoor learning, the couple were delighted to support the initiative, viewing it as an ideal way to contribute to the community.

“Outdoor learning, especially through Forest School programmes, offers children an incredible opportunity to develop resilience, teamwork, and practical skills,” said Diana.

“Fire, when used safely, can be a fantastic teaching tool to explore cooking, fire safety, and confidence-building activities.”

Clements Primary Academy’s Forest School programme provides all children with year-round opportunities to connect with nature through hands-on learning.

The new firepit bowl and tripod, will be used daily, enhancing sessions by allowing students to safely explore activities like fire-building and outdoor cooking, fostering creativity, independence, and problem-solving skills.

“We were thrilled to receive the donation from The Firepit Company,” said Clements Primary headteacher, Vicky Hogg.

“The firepit bowl not only replaces our worn out grill but beautifully upgrades the fire circle.
