It comes days after dozens of properties were devastated by floods on New Year’s Day, with the wet weather continuing.
A flood alert was issued for Sankey, Black, Barkers, Windle and Whittle brooks earlier today, Sunday, as the snow melts and rain arrives.
An Environment Agency spokesman said: “River levels are rising due to rainfall.
“Flooding is forecast to affect locations near Sankey Brook, with low-lying land and roads expected to be most affected.”
“More rainfall is forecast throughout Monday, January 6.
“We are closely monitoring the situation and are monitoring rainfall and river levels.
“Avoid using low-lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water.”

Now, Cheshire Police has reported flooding, with the force’s Burtonwood and Winwick Police team said: “Please be aware that Alder Lane between Burtonwood and Winwick is currently flooded and is getting deeper.
“Also, Clay Lane at the regular spot is flooded as well. The council has been informed. Please take if you are using the roads.”
Myddleton Lane in Winwick is another road which is said to be experiencing heavy flooding.
Bewsey and Dallam, areas which experienced severe flooding in the New Year, are again experiencing rising water levels.
Warrington South MP Sarah Hall said: “I have been out to Southworth Avenue and Hodgkinson and Higham, where water levels continue to rise.
“I have spoken to the Environment Agency and remain in close contact with other partners about the situation.
“The flood alert remains a flood alert at this time, meaning flooding is possible. Be prepared.”
In addition, sandbags have been delivered to homes on Tavlin Avenue and Longshaw Street, where water levels continue to rise.
