Flooding: Flood warnings for Salisbury by Environment Agency

The Environmental Agency has issued three flood warnings for parts of Salisbury this week. Flood warnings indicate that flooding is ‘expected’ and those living in the areas are urged to ‘act now’.

The three areas are Landford to Wade Bridge on the River Blackwater, Middle Hampshire Avon at Britford and Middle Hampshire Avon from Salisbury to Ringwood.

Water levels at Wellow and Ower are currently ‘very high’ – as are those across the River Avon. Members of the public are urged to not use low lying footpaths in the area.

The Environment Agency will provide updates on flooding risks, but weather is forecast to be mostly dry until Wednesday which should give time for rivers to recover.

At approximately 1pm on Monday, January 6, these were the reported river levels.

  • The River Bourne level at Salisbury Bourne was 1.28 metres. Property flooding is possible when it goes above 1.23 metres.

  • The River Avon level at Salisbury Harnham Bridge was 1.03 metres. Property flooding is possible when it goes above 1.09 metres.
