Firefighters join Bramley parkrun to highlight wheelie bin arson

By Jean Hollings

Stanningley Fire Station crews are seeing significant levels of anti-social behaviour and arson on Bramley Park, which has been an ongoing problem for the past few years.

Youths burning wheelie bins around the park impacts everyone locally.

In an attempt to mitigate this issue fire crews are joining the Bramley parkrun team for the next two Saturdays and Sundays to chat to all participants/local residents about the problem and what’s being done by West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and partners to tackle the issue.

They will be handing out leaflets about keeping wheelie bins secure.

Bramley parkrun is a free weekly 5k event where participants can walk, run or volunteer. on a Saturday morning.

Bramley Junior parkrun is a free weekly 2k event held on a Sunday for children aged four to 14 years to walk or run and where parent/guardians can volunteer while their child is participating.

Watch Commander Alex McLean and his team from Stanningley Fire Station are happy to chat to people at parkrun about their concerns and how everyone can stay safe.
