It will take place on Thursday January 23 and is part of an ongoing consultation on the Fife Council proposal, which is expected to cost around £160,000.
A final decision is expected in May and if the plans get the go-ahead the work would start in the summer holidays and be completed in October.
The move has been driven by the scale of housebuilding in Dunfermline and West Fife, more than 5,000 new homes are set to be built, and a shortage of additional support class (ASC) spaces for pupils.
If approved, the additional support class would be added to Dalgety Bay Primary School this summer. (Image: Google Maps) READ MORE: Inspirational retired West Fife headteacher dies
Last month the council’s cabinet committee agreed that a statutory public consultation should take place to outline the proposals and gather feedback.
It began on January 7 and will end on February 21.
The public meeting will take place in the school from 6pm to 7pm.
During the day, there will also be informal drop-in sessions from 8.45am to 9.30am, 2.45pm to 3.30pm and 5pm to 6pm.
The current ASC provision in this area is at Pitreavie and Cairneyhill primary schools, which have three and two classrooms respectively that are assigned to support pupils.
Based on pupil roll projections, an additional class would “allow more opportunities for pupils’ needs to be met” across the area.
And it would lead to the maximum capacity at Dalgety Bay PS – not including the new ASC class – changing from 434 pupils (14 classes) to 342 pupils (12 classes).
