Far from the Madding Crowd comes to Theatre Royal Winchester

The play will be performed at Theatre Royal Winchester on Tuesday, February 4 and Wednesday, February 5.

Set in the Victorian English countryside, the plot revolves around the beautiful and independent Bathsheba Everdene.

After inheriting and managing her uncle’s farm, she finds herself courted by three very different suitors: an honest shepherd, a charming but womanising sergeant, and a lonely wealthy farmer.

Founded by Ross Muir, the company is based at Worthing’s Connaught Theatre.

Nick Young and Muir have co-adapted the story, which is now ready to be presented by an ensemble cast, complete with period-appropriate music and songs.

The performance is in association with Play to the Crowd, the charity that operates Theatre Royal Winchester.
