On eBay, a seller has listed a King Charles III 50 pence coin for £1,000.
In the item description, the seller says: “This 50p coin is an extremely rare find for collectors and enthusiasts alike. Minted in the United Kingdom in 2022, it features the portrait of King Charles III, who reigns currently. The denomination of the coin is 50p, and it is part of the Decimal Coinage series that began in 1971.

The seller is also asking for 85 pence for postage.
The coin is no longer available from the Royal Mint and is the first coin with King Charles’ profile on following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
On the coin, the King is facing towards the left – the opposite direction to Queen Elizabeth. It is a tradition that monarchs face the opposite direction from their predecessor.
