Essex weather snow warning in part of county tomorrow

The Met Office has issued the yellow weather warning for snow in the south of the county from 9am until 11.59pm tomorrow.

The weather experts predict a weather system may push snow into some southern counties of England on Wednesday, which “could then prove disruptive”.

This new warning mostly covers South East and South West England including Canterbury, Brighton, Portsmouth and Exeter, however it also covers parts of Thurrock including Tilbury.

Residents are warned of a small chance power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected.

There is also a small chance of travel delays due to disruptive wintry conditions, and a slight chance some rural communities could become cut off.

A statement on the Met Office website says: “Whilst not all areas may be affected, outbreaks of snow may push in from the southwest during Wednesday, potentially giving some significant accumulations in places.

“Two to five centimetres of snow could accumulate fairly widely, and as much as 10 centimetres over higher ground, especially over east or northeast-facing slopes.

“Rain or sleet is more likely near coasts. Note that there is still a possibility that the weather system, and associated rain or snow, may remain further south across the English Channel.”
