Essex airport worker wins £100,000 BOTB prize bundle

Atapon Jumpasit, from Wickford, Essex, has been announced the winner of BOTB’s weekly Dream Car Competition, which saw him bag an Audi RS3 Sportsback worth £59,000.

The 34-year-old was at home when BOTB presenter Christian Williams surprised him with the news that he was the latest winner.

Christian then unveiled Atapon’s new car, which was waiting for him nearby.

But the surprises didn’t end there, as Christian opened the boot of the new car to reveal an additional £44,000 in cash, bringing the total prize package to more than £100,000.

Atapon said: “To be a winner is mind-blowing.

“Every week I play, hoping one day I will win, but now it has actually happened, it feels absolutely unreal.”

Atapon, a dispatcher at Stansted Airport, revealed that the day had started with the heartbreaking news that his pet rabbit would have to be put down.

He said: “I had mixed emotions.

“My dream had come true, but it is just a shame it happened on such a sad day.

“We have had our rabbit for eight years, and it has been very much part of the family.

“It was both my best day and saddest day ever.”

The Audi RS3 Sportback, known for its i5 Turbo engine, 395bhp, and a top speed of 155mph, is a far cry from Atapon current car, an old Ford Fiesta.

But despite his love of the car, Atapon said he is considering taking the cash alternative.

He said: “I had a go in sitting in it, and it felt very comfortable and fast.

“But I am doing the sensible thing and taking the cash which we will invest in our house, including the bathroom and kitchen.

“I have never seen that much money in my life.”

BOTB has given away £83m worth of cars since it was founded by William Hindmarch in 1999.

Presenter Christian Williams added: “It is always amazing to deliver life-changing prizes, but this one was bittersweet for Atapon, given the sad news about his rabbit earlier that day.

“However, it was wonderful to see his smile when he saw the car and cash.”
