The social media platform was taken over by Mr Musk in October 2022, with many criticising the lack of content moderation and the prevalence of bots under his ownership.
In a statement the Fringe said: “Our core values are centred around a strong sense of community, inclusion, collaboration, honesty, transparency and kindness.

“In recent months, if not years, š¯•¸ has become a space that increasingly tolerates the spread of negativity and misinformation; we also have concerns aroundĀ š¯•¸’s terms of service with regards to users’ intellectual property and howĀ š¯•¸ uses it.
“As such, we have decided to stop using ourĀ š¯•¸ accounts @edfringe, @fringecentral and @edfringesociety.
“This will impact some activities we have previously run viaĀ š¯•¸, e.g #TweetTheMedia. We’re looking into how these activities can work on other platforms and will update our advice to artists in due course.
