The theme will be adopted for activities and events from January to March, including a Bricks of Wonder Lego event, a Messy Church event, and a Muddy Church event, as well as the regular Abbey Kids and Story Time groups.
There will be arts and crafts activities, Lego-building challenges, an outdoor trail, and interactive storytelling experiences, exploring global, environmental, and international themes in ways which are engaging and accessible for children and young people.
Matt Baines, the Abbey’s children, youth, and families worker, said: “We think we have been gifted with a wonderful world – one that’s worth celebrating, learning about, sharing with others, and looking after.
“Our hope for these events is that we will inspire children and their families to explore the world around them through wonder, creativity, and fun.”
The first event, Bricks of Wonder: Wonders of the World, is a Lego event with an international theme at Crossford Village Hall.
Children, young people, and their families are invited to recreate natural and human-made landmarks with Lego.
This event is on Saturday, January 25, the weekend before International Lego Day.
The Abbey Church of Dunfermline will provide building suggestions and lots of Lego.
The event is free and tickets can be booked online.
After that, Messy Church will follow in February, with Muddy Church taking place in March outdoors.
In addition, Boys and Girl Brigades as well as Guide groups are also available for children that may be interested in taking part.
Parents can also sign up to a mailing list to keep updated on upcoming events at Dunfermline Abbey.
