Drivers count the cost of flouting free parking rules in Nailsworth

Drivers flouting free parking rules have been penalised in Nailsworth.

More than eight drivers were slapped with penalty notice charge tickets (PCNs) at the SDC owned Nailsworth Town Hall and Comrades car park.

Fines cost between £50 and £70 depending on the offence but the cost is halved if people pay within two weeks of tickets being issued.

A Stroud District Council spokesperson told Stroud Times: “There is no parking charge for SDC spaces in Nailsworth, but time limits help ensure a turnover of vehicles. This means shoppers can find a space and spend money in the town, supporting the local economy. Vehicles parked over the time limit may be ticketed with a penalty notice.

“Drivers who wish to park for longer than four hours in SDC’s Nailsworth car parks can do so in two long stay car parks at New Market Road and Old Market West, which have 66 spaces available for stays of up to 23 hours.
