Following a lengthy stay at Hobbs, in residential rehab after a stroke, Downton resident and Salisbury Museum stalwart, Ian ‘Dix’ Dixon has finally made it home.
Ian spent his life teaching, coaching and giving to other people. He served as a teacher, headteacher, cricket and hockey coach, and community volunteer.

Ian and his cricket team (Image: Alan Heap) As he begins his ‘second innings’, his old college cricket pals have come together to raise funds so Ian can live a more independent life.
His partner Elizabeth Lydia plays with The Salisbury Big Band, and they are all giving their free time to help with the fundraising and give Ian his big night out.
The event will take place on Friday, February 7, at The Clubhouse, Downton. If you can’t make it to Downton, you can tune in to the live stream.

There will be dancing, singing, and some fabulous tunes to enjoy with Elizabeth’s bandmates and Ian’s singing buddies. 1st half big band swing, 2nd half rock ‘n’ roll party.
Ian’s good friend, Alan Heap said: “I am organizing a special fundraising event for my good friend Ian to help him adapt to home life following a stroke,
“Ian spent his life in service to others, so this should be a fantastic event to support Ian and Elizabeth and help them adapt to life back home.
“Let’s come together to make a difference and show our love and support.”
The event is at 7:30 pm on Friday, February 7 and general admission is £16.96, while live stream tickets are £11.55.
