Disneyland trip a success for Romsey-based charity

It was organised by Face Everything And Rise (FEAR), a charity which supports those living on artificial nutrition.

The charity was funded in 2015 by Kim Purkis, after she was diagnosed with intestinal failure.

Kim organised the entire trip, which took 21 families, consisting of 73 people, to the theme park for three days, with the convoy of cars travelling to Disney Land on Boxing Day.

FEAR covered the costs so all the families could attend, with Kim also arranging for a specialist nutrition nurse to join the trip.

Kim said: “The precious memories that were made will certainly last a lifetime. It was a privilege to be part of this special trip, the joy on so many children’s, and adults, faces made all the hard work involved in organising it worthwhile. It’s a trip that I will always remember”.

Most of the children were given the surprise on Christmas morning as Kim had sent each child a specially made “Golden Ticket” which was wrapped in a special wallet that was handmade by Kim’s mother.

Kim continued: “I cried when I was sent videos of the children opening the ticket on Christmas morning. The moment they realised they were going to Disney the next day was priceless”.

Kim is hoping to organise more events for FEAR in 2025. More information about the charity can be found by visiting its website.
