There is still time for charities and other good causes to apply for funding from the Louis Baylis Charitable Trust.
The trust, which focuses its support on causes in East Berkshire and South Bucks, offers grants from a pot of more than £100,000 to scores of organisations twice a year.
Its latest round of applications is set to close early next month.
Trust chairman Peter Sands said: “We like to cover 40 or 50 [groups], perhaps 60 sometimes so the numbers do vary a bit.
“If it’s a worthy cause and we feel there’s great benefit then we’ll do more – there isn’t a hard and fast figure.”
The trust considers applications of less than £1,000 to more than £5,000.
In the past it has distributed £10,000 grants.
Peter said: “It varies depending on the amount [of applicants] because – at the end of the day – we’ve only got a finite pot and so if we give out bigger amounts the less we can spread it.”
Funding from the Louis Baylis Charitable Trust has helped hundreds of causes during its long history of supporting the community.
“We get some lovely letters back,” Peter said.
“It’s nice to get the feedback and we do get very good feedback from the grant application – that’s always great.”
Peter said, while the trust would not support individuals, funding was available to new start-ups as well as unregistered good causes.
“There’s no harm in putting in an application, it’s always worth giving it a try,” he said.
“The application form is online so it’s fairly easy, we just ask our questions and we’d normally ask for a history of an organisation’s accounts.
“They [applicants] don’t have to be a registered charity – they just have to be something that does some good in the community.”
The deadline for applications is June 10 with applicants likely to be advised of the outcome by mid-July.
