Darts fever is back – and you could win chance to play PDC Ricky Evans star or cash prizes as Spalding’s Draymans Arms and Surfleet’s Riverside Inn plan tournaments

The new year means the return of darts fever – and our pubs are capitalising on this by running tournaments with mouthwatering prizes.

The World Darts Championships staged at Alexandra Palace over the festive period – and featuring Lincolnshire’s very own Scott Williams and Rob Cross – whetted oche appetites across the country one again.

And now you are offered the chance to show off your arrows skills in two local contests.

You could win the chance to face PDC professional darts player ‘Rapid’ Ricky Evans

Spalding’s Draymans Arms is holding a tournament on Saturday (January 11), with the winners earning the chance to face PDC tour star ‘Rapid’ Ricky Evans.

Later this month the Riverside Inn at Surfleet will host its own tournament, with big cash prizes available.

Evans will be starring in an exhibition evening at the Draymans Arms on February 8, a new venture for landlord Rick Newton, who will also be welcoming fellow pro Andy Hamilton to the Little London pub this summer.

“I thought it would be good to get some exhibitions on this year,” said Rick, whose pub has five darts teams playing out of the venue throughout the week.

“It’s created a bit of a buzz around the place. Lots of people say they’re wanting to take part.”

After teenage sensation Luke Littler lifted the world title earlier this month, Rick says he’s noticed a few more youngsters trying their hand at darts.

With that in mind, Saturday’s tournament will begin with a junior competition (for youngsters aged 17 and under) from 2pm.

The seniors tournament will begin at 5pm.

Entry is £5 per person and the two winners will both get to face Evans next month.

The Riverside Inn’s tournament will be staged on Saturday, January 25 from 1pm with cash prizes up for grabs.

“It’s the first time we’re holding it, the customers have said this is something we should come up with,” said business owner Kai Lash.

“We thought we’d give it a shout and there’s been a lot of interest. We’re looking forward to it.”

The winner will walk away with £200 and the runner-up £75. There will also be cash prizes for third (£50) and fourth £25).

Entry for this competition costs £10.
