Cranbourne School, in Wessex Close, was closed on Monday, January 6, the scheduled first day back at school for students entering the Spring term after the Christmas holidays.
The closure was due to a water leak, discovered by staff on Friday, January 4, with contractors visiting the same day to shut off the water supply.

They visited again on Monday, January 6, with plans to resolve the issue. However, headteacher Sarah Conlon announced on Monday evening that contractors ‘have been unable to fix the water leak completely’.
The headteacher said the school’s Senior Leadership Team has been looking at ways to ‘ensure students return as soon as possible to school’.
The full closure, which was described by the school as ‘hugely disappointing’ has been reduced to a partial closure with Cranbourne reopening for pupils in Year 10 and Year 11 on Tuesday, January 7.
The headteacher said that work would be uploaded to the parent portal and communication app, Edulink for students in Years 7, 8 and 9 to complete ‘if they are able to’ to minimise disruption to their learning.
She concluded: “I appreciate your patience and support in dealing with this unforeseen issue and will keep you [parents and students] updated.”
