A WOMAN caught speeding at the Dartford Crossing has been fined.

Jane Hancock-Legerton, 56, was driving a BMW along the A282 in Grays when she was caught going above the 50 miles per hour limit on April 17.

She admitted the offence at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court last Tuesday where she was fined £320 and handed three penalty points.

Hancock-Legerton, of Avocet Way, Waterlooville, Hampshire, was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £110 and a victim surcharge of £128.

The court heard she was not banned from driving due to the affect this would have on her specific role within her care company. 

A SPEEDING motorist caught going above a major road’s limit has been slapped with a fine.

Abimbola Joshua, of Leamington Road, Southend, was behind the wheel of a Nissan X-Trail on The Highway in Aldgate, east London, when he was recorded going above the 20 miles per hour limit.

The 48-year-old admitted the March 5 offence at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

He has now been ordered to pay a £40 fine and a surcharge to fund victim services of £16.

His driving record was also endorsed with three penalty points.

A DRIVER caught going five miles per hour above a speed limit has been banned from the roads.

Keith Mabey, of Dalwood, Shoebury, was driving a Mercedes along Grosvenor Road in Westminster when he was recorded doing 25 miles per hour on December 4, 2023. The limit is 20.

The offence was proved via the single justice procedure and the 60-year-old was banned from driving for six months at Stratford Magistrates’ Court last Tuesday.

He has also been fined £100, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £40 and prosecution costs of £100.

A VAN driver caught speeding at the Dartford Crossing has been fined.

Gary Brunton, 41, was behind the wheel of a Volkswagen Transporter on the A282 in Grays when he was recorded going above the 50 miles per hour limit on April 1.

He admitted the offence and was fined £230 at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court last Tuesday.Brunton, of Little Grove Field, Harlow, was also handed three penalty points and ordered to pay £110 prosecution costs.

A DRIVER caught speeding on the A13 has been ordered to pay more than £200.

Owen Smith, of Crown Avenue, Pitsea, was driving a Vauxhall Astra along the major road London-bound in Dagenham when he was recorded going above the 50 miles per hour limit on April 1.

The 41-year-old admitted the offence at Stratford Magistrates’ Court last Tuesday where he was fined £100 and handed three penalty points.

Smith was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £100 and a surcharge of £40.

A MAN who failed to hand evidence to police has been handed a large fine.

Mohammad Taj, 64, did not give information to the chief officer of police in Billericay relating to a BMW driver accused of an offence on March 28.

He had denied the offence but was found guilty in November. 

Taj, of High Street, Barkingside, appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court last Friday where he was fined £225 and handed six penalty points.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £400.

A VAN driver caught behind the wheel while banned has been slapped with a fine.

Jay Cosans, 36, was driving a Ford Transit along Dock Road, near Tilbury Docks, on October 3 when he had been banned from driving.

He admitted the offence at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on January 1 and was hit with a £461 fine and six penalty points.

Cosans, of Leicester Road, Tilbury, was also ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £184 surcharge to fund victim services.

A FIAT driver found speeding on the QEII bridge has been ordered to pay more than £450.

Daniel Waghorne, 41, was driving a Punto along the Queen Elizabeth II bridge in Grays when he was recorded going above the 50 miles per hour limit on May 13. He admitted speeding at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court last Tuesday.

Waghorne, of Doria Drive, Gravesend, has been fined £250 and handed three penalty points.

He must also pay £110 costs and a £100 surcharge, the court ordered.

A SPEEDING driver caught above the limit on the M25 has been hit with a fine.

Michael Wright, of Station Road, Rayleigh, was behind the wheel of an Audi on the motorway in Leatherhead when he was caught going above the 60 miles per hour limit on December 28, 2024. 

The 31-year-old admitted the offence at Guildford Magistrates’ Court on Friday where he was fined £70 and handed three penalty points.

Wright was also ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £28.

No order for prosecution costs was made.

A DRINK driver caught behind the wheel in Leigh has been banned from the roads.

Fiona Doyle, 55, was driving a Ford along The Fairway when she was found with 164 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The limit is 35.

She admitted the offence in November and appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, January 2, where she was banned from driving for three years.

Doyle, of Ridgewood Avenue, Saltdean, Brighton, was also handed 200 hours of unpaid work, and was ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs as well as a £114 surcharge to fund victim services.

A WOMAN who caused a serious injury after driving without care has been hit with a ban.

Sheila Lewis, 80, was behind the wheel on Woodgrange Road in Southend when she caused serious injury to a man by driving without due care and attention on August 28.

The Citroen driver admitted the offence at Southend Magistrates’ Court last Monday and was banned from driving for a year.

Lewis, of Shaftesbury Avenue, Southend, was also fined £557, ordered to pay £85 costs and a £223 surcharge.

A SHOPLIFTER who stole £800 worth of perfume has been jailed.

Frankie Finn, 27, stole the perfume from Lakeside shopping centre in West Thurrock on January 4.

He admitted the offence at Southend Magistrates’ Court last Monday where he was jailed for four weeks.

Magistrates heard Finn, of Clarence Road, Canning Town, east London, planned the theft and distracted a member of staff before running out of the store without paying.

Therefore, a court was told only a custodial sentence could be justified.

A BMW driver caught speeding on a main road has been ordered to pay more than £1,000.

Bolli Ibrahim, of Warrior House, Southchurch Road, was driving along the A4500 Weedon Road in Northampton when he was recorded going at 77 miles per hour on June 24. The limit is 50.

The offence was proved via the single justice procedure at Northampton Magistrates’ Court last Monday.

Ibrahim, 30, has been fined £660, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £264 and prosecution costs of £90.

His driving record was endorsed with six points.

A MOTORIST caught behind the wheel without a licence and insurance has been banned from the roads.

Simon Loader, 29, was driving along North Shoebury Road when there was no insurance in force covering his BMW on October 11.

He also failed to provide a specimen of breath for analysis in the course of an investigation.

Loader, of York Road, Southend, admitted all offences at Southend Magistrates’ Court last Thursday where he was banned from driving for three years.

He was also fined £40, ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £114 surcharge.

A VAN driver caught above the alcohol limit in Rochford has been handed unpaid work.

Matthew Saunders, 64, was behind the wheel of a Ford Transit in Tylney Avenue when he was found with 107 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on December 22. The limit is 35.

He admitted the offence at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court last Tuesday.

Saunders, of Tylney Avenue, Rochford, was banned from the roads for a year and a month, and ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.

A FARE dodger caught at a station without a ticket has been ordered to pay more than £500.

Wojciech Gibas, of Cherrydown East, Basildon, entered a compulsory ticket area on the Transport for London network at Upminster without having a valid ticket on August 11.

The offence was proved in his absence at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court on Monday and Gibas was fined £220.

The 38-year-old has also been ordered to pay compensation of £3.30, prosecution costs of £250 and a surcharge to fund victim services of £88.

A VAN driver caught behind the wheel while uninsured has been slapped with a fine.

Ian Reville, 63, was found driving a Mercedes Sprinter along Southernhay, in Basildon, when there was no insurance covering his van on June 27, 2023.

He admitted the offence at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on January 2 where he was fined £90 and handed six penalty points.

Reville, of Waldegrave, Basildon, must also pay £85 in prosecution costs and a surcharge to fund victim services of £36, magistrates ordered.

Tippawan Ottine, 47, was behind the wheel of an Audi in Arterial Road when she was found with 55 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on December 20. The limit is 35.

She admitted the offence at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court last Tuesday where she was banned from driving for a year and three months.

Ottine, of Mersea Road, Colchester, was also fined £441, ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a surcharge to fund victim services of £176.

A MAN who refused to hand evidence to police has been slapped with a large fine.

Uzoka Okonyia, 41, failed to give information to the chief officer of Essex Police in Billericay relating to a Ford Transit driver accused of an offence on December 11, 2023.

The offence was proved in his absence at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court last Tuesday.

Okonyia, of Whitehall Close, Borehamwood, was fined £600 and handed six penalty points.

He was also ordered to pay £110 costs and a £240 surcharge.

A BMW driver who refused to take part in a drugs test after being stopped by police in Southend has been hit with a driving ban.

Lloyd Kahira, 37, was found with cannabis when he was stopped in Southbourne Grove on January 5. He also had no insurance covering his car and had been banned from driving.

He later failed to provide a specimen of blood for analysis.

Kahira, of York Road, Southend, admitted all offences at Southend Magistrates’ Court last Monday and was banned from driving for a year. He was also fined £200, ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £120 surcharge.
