County Durham snow pictures as Met Office issue ice warning

The UK is braced for the mercury to plummet with weather warnings for snow and ice are in force across much of the country after severe flooding and snow caused travel disruption and school closures this week.

Temperatures will continue to fall over the coming days, potentially as low as minus 20C in northern parts of the UK on Friday night, the Met Office has forecast.

“Anywhere across the UK is likely to see those temperatures dipping below freezing and likely to see quite severe frost and ice to form overnight tonight.”
