Luca Toolan, the actor who played Mason Radcliffe, has opened up about his stint on the show and the harrowing storyline that saw him exit.
Mason was brutally killed in the dramatic conclusion of a knife crime storyline.

Discussing his exit, the Coronation Street actor said: “Of course when I first heard there was a mixture of emotions because I was sad that Mason was going to die and that means I would be leaving, but equally I was really excited and honoured to be part of this storyline because it’s an incredibly important issue that needs to be tackled.
“I feel so privileged to have had this opportunity to start my professional career at Coronation Street and what a great time I’ve had.”
According to The Sun, the ITV star was forced to keep the fate of the character a secret for almost a year, telling reporters: “I found out around February or March time so it was a long time coming. It gave me the opportunity to do a lot of research into the storyline which was great.”
The harrowing departure of Luca Toolan’s character took place when he was stabbed by his brothers after his pal Dylan brought a knife in an attempt to defend him.
Mason then stumbled to a playground where he was found by Abi Webster who desperately tried to save him.
Discussing the scenes, Luca said: “It was exhausting to film but amazing. I was so focused and a storyline like this is what you crave as an actor.
“I love the long days and working my butt off and even filming outside in the cold.
