Claudia Winkleman’s inspiration for BBC Traitors outfits

From her country boots to chic coats and cosy oversized jumpers, she’s worn it all on the BBC reality game show.

Wondering where she gets her inspiration from. Claudia has revealed her style is influenced by a mix of Princess Anne and singer Sarah Brightman.

She said her outfits on Strictly Come Dancing had also been influenced by actress Anita Dobson and Greek singer Demis Roussos.

Speaking on Friday’s episode (January 10) of The Graham Norton Show, Claudia says: “We always like to have a muse, for Strictly it has been Anita Dobson and this year it was Demis Roussos.

“For Traitors, it’s Princess Anne meets Sarah Brightman. We’ve already decided on next year’s – I’ll be dressing as Gerald from Clarkson’s Farm.”

The 52-year-old who will host Graham’s show while he is in Australia on February 28, described how she was massaged by a vet while filming The Traitors.

She explained: “I did my back in so asked if I could see a physio. We are in the middle of nowhere so that wasn’t easy.

“When this chap turned up the producer asked me not to be chatty with him.

How ‘The Traitors’ TV Show Works

“I thought she meant I was not to talk about what was going on in the production, so I asked him who else he had treated and he said, ‘two shire horses and a miniature dachshund’ – it turns out they didn’t want me to know he was a vet.”

She also said how proud she was of the series, in which contestants attempt to identify who among them are “Faithfuls” and who are “Traitors”, as the Traitors plot to murder the Faithfuls, and the Faithfuls try to identify and banish the Traitors.

Finalists have a chance of winning a chunk of the £120,000 prize, but if a Traitor survives until the very end, unidentified, they take home the full prize pot, while any Faithfuls left go home with nothing.

Claudia added: “I am always very nervous that people aren’t watching and then incredibly grateful that they are.

“I feel about Traitors like people feel about an offspring – you’re so glad when people love it. I can’t say much but the producers are so clever and there are lots of twists and turns coming.”

The full interview can be seen on The Graham Norton Show on BBC One, on Friday, January 10 at 10.40pm, and is also available on iPlayer.
