Christmas lights display in Linton near Haverhill raises almost £2,900 in support of Royal Papworth Hospital

A Christmas lights display at a house in Linton has raised almost £2,900 for a charity.

The display put up by Jordan Cooper at the front and rear of his home in Finchams Close, just eight miles from Haverhill, has raised £2,883 for the Norfolk Zipper Club (NZC), which raises money for equipment at the Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge.

Jordan, a gardener, first did the display in 2020 in tribute to his grandad, Billy King, who had died earlier that year, aged 72 and has continued to do so each year since.

Billy had a heart transplant at Royal Papworth in 2004 and was a member of the NZC. He was also a huge fan of Christmas lights, a fact that inspired Jordan’s display, which uses more than 50,000 LEDs.

“We smashed it this year,” said Jordan.

“We had a couple of donations last year which pushed us over the £3,000 mark but we didn’t have those this year so we are really grateful.

“We have done better this year because there were a few big donations that we got last year that we haven’t had this year. The Norfolk Zipper Club are so happy. It’s unreal.”

The 2025 Christmas lights display will be switched on at 6pm on November 28.
