The awards, which recognise incredible women across Cheshire and Wirral, have raised more than £300,000 for local children’s charities since they began in 1984.
Last year’s winner was Mel Kelly, 24, from Wirral, who was recognised for her bravery after being diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour at the age of 22.
Despite being in intensive care and unable to walk or dress herself, Mel defied the odds and recovered to become an official ambassador for The Brain Tumour Charity, raising thousands of pounds through charitable projects.
Sylvia Cheater MBE, founder and chair of the Cheshire Woman of the Year Awards Committee, urged people to nominate for the 2025 awards.
She said: “Do you know an amazing woman in Cheshire, like Mel, who deserves to be recognised?
“Perhaps your mother, daughter, sister or friend has an inspiring, heartfelt or courageous story to tell?
“Or maybe a colleague or your boss inspires you?
“Or do you have a neighbour who is always helping others?
“Now is the time to nominate her.”
The awards recognise women from all walks of life who have shown great personal courage, achieved outstanding professional success, or given exceptional service to their local community.
They also raise much-needed funds for children’s charity, NSPCC, with all money raised used to help children and families in Cheshire and Wirral, including support for ChildLine.
Ms Cheater added: “The Cheshire Woman Awards began all the way back in 1984 and is a wonderful way to raise much-needed funds for charity.
“Since then, it has grown to become an important date in Cheshire’s charity fundraising calendar thanks to our wonderful women and our supportive sponsors over the last four decades, so we really can’t thank them enough.”
Deborah Sefton, community fundraising manager for the NSPCC, said: “Please get nominating amazing women for the Cheshire Woman Awards 2025.
“Over the last 40 years, truly remarkable women have been recognised by the committee, and much-needed funds raised for the NSPCC.
“Thanks to their generosity, we will be able to reach even more vulnerable children when they need us the most – whether it’s through Childline, our Helpline, in schools or one of our therapeutic service centres.”
To be eligible for nomination, a woman should live, work, or have been born in Cheshire, including Wirral.
She can be nominated for her contribution to her community, personal courage, or outstanding professional achievement.

Last year’s headline sponsor was Gwen Jackson, of Gwen’s Bridal Shop, in Northwich, Cheshire.
She said: “Sponsoring the Cheshire Woman Awards was a fantastic experience.
“Knowing that my contribution was going to such a good cause to help children and families in the region, was a brilliant feeling.
“It was also a great opportunity to connect with like-minded women and enjoy wonderful company during the day itself.”
