Callum Parslow: life in prison for attempted murderer

Callum Parslow, aged 32, of Bromyard Terrace, St John’s, will serve a minimum of 22 years and eight months behind bars after stabbing Nahom Hagos in the chest at the Pear Tree Inn in Hindlip, near Worcester, on April 2, 2024.

He was sentence by Lord Justice Dove at Woolwich crown court today (Friday, January 17).

The 32-year-old, of Bromyard Terrace, Worcester, used a £770 knife he bought online and claimed he travelled four and a half-miles to the hotel to stab “one of the channel migrants” because he was “angry and frustrated” with the small boat crossings.

Hagos, who is originally from Eritrea, suffered injuries to his chest and hand, and said it was a “miracle” he survived the attack, but felt his life had been “turned upside down.”

In a victim statement, he said: “The pain is unbearable and keeps me awake all night long.

“The pain feels like an electric shock going through my hand and I now have insomnia.

“I had been living and pursuing a happy life before the incident. This is now a distant memory.

“I feel lonely and don’t feel safe on the street. My life has been turned upside down.”

As police closed in on Parslow after he fled the scene, the 32-year-old attempted to post his own “terrorist manifesto” on X in which he claimed he “just did my duty to England” by trying to “exterminate” his victim.

Parslow, who has a tattoo of Adolf Hitler’s signature on his left forearm then attempted to tag numerous prominent politicians such as Sir Keir Starmer, Rishi Sunak, Nigel Farage and Suella Braverman, but the post did not send as he had copied in too many recipients.

When police searched Parslow’s flat in Bromyard Terrace, they discovered a second knife, an axe a metal baseball bat as well as the full extent of his obsession with Nazism, which included a red armband with a swastika, a Nazi-era medallion and copies of Mein Kampf.

Upon handing him the life sentence, Mr Justice Dove told Parslow: “You committed a vicious and unprovoked assault on a complete stranger (Nahom Hagos) who suffered devastating injuries as a result of your violence.

The judge also said Parslow was “motivated by your adoption of far-right neo-Nazi mindset which fuelled your warped, violent and racist views.

“This was undoubtedly a terrorist attack.”
