Luke ‘The Nuke’ Littler has taken the darts world by storm, and last night he made history.
The 17-year-old sensation became the youngest winner of the PDC World Darts Championship after his 7-3 win against Michael Van Gerwen.
“Mesmerising performance from Luke Littler to win the World Darts Championship,” said Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer.
“Congratulations Luke on being the youngest ever PDC World Darts Champion. An inspirational performance under such pressure to lift the trophy.
“You should be really proud of what you’ve achieved tonight, not just for yourself but of darts as a whole.”
The historic win has been dubbed Warrington’s greatest sporting achievement ever, and residents across the town have revelled in his victory.
“Thank you, Luke Littler, for showing the world what Warrington is all about,” said Cllr Mo Hussain.
“You’ve done us proud, champ. World class talent right there.”

Calls have already started to give the Warringtonian a welcome home like no other, with a homecoming parade through the town.
“I said to my husband last night, he needs a homecoming like they do with Warrington Wolves, he totally deserves it,” said one resident.
“He is grounded for such a young person who has achieved the best and deserves to be celebrated by his hometown, as do the people who trained him from the St Helens club,” said another.
“Get him on the steps of the town hall and we’ll venerate him in our thousands at Bank Park,” another resident commented.
Fans across Warrington have also suggested creating a mural of the teen, a statue or even turning the town centre skittles fountain into a dartboard.
“[He] definitely has to come out on the pitch at a Wire game,” one resident said.
“Open a darts club for the young kids to play, like the one in St Helens where he played,” said another.
