Call for Colours and Hues of the Ridgeway entries for celebrated arts competition

‘Colours and Hues of the Ridgeway’ is being celebrated in an arts competition

Be inspired by the colours and hues of nature in the outstandingly beautiful landscapes of the Ridgeway National Trail in West Berkshire and enter the Swire Ridgeway Arts Prize.

The theme of the 2025 competition – which has been organised by the Friends of the Ridgeway since 2017 – is Colours and Hues of the Ridgeway.

Swires Prize

Each season brings new colours of flowers, birds, insects, animals and trees, as well as the changing colours of woodland and downland landscapes through the Chilterns and North Wessex Downs National Landscapes.

There are four categories in the Swire Ridgeway Arts Prize: Wall Art of any medium. Photography. Sculpture including glass and ceramics. Writing in prose and poetry.

The competition is open to all, including professional and amateur artists.

Art work submitted must be produced in the 24 months before closing date of March 28 2025.

The Ridgeway National Trail is more than an 87-mile walking trail between Overton Hill at Avebury World Heritage Site and Ivinghoe Beacon in the Chilterns. It is an historic monument, an artistic inspiration, a natural environment and more. The Friends of the Ridgeway seek to engage people living near to and using the Ridgeway in activities that spread knowledge and appreciation of its wealth of historic, artistic and environmental features.
