Brora Rangers are looking to raise £10,000 to help pay for shoulder surgery for striker Jordan Macrae who has now been ruled out of action for the rest of the season.
Brora Rangers are looking to raise £10,000 to pay for shoulder surgery for Jordan Macrae.
The 26-year-old has confirmed he will not play again this season after dislocating his left shoulder in their Highland League match against Brechin City in October.
However, the electrician from Ardersier has experienced problems with his shoulder in the past but now requires surgery to fix the issue.
The Cattachs launched their fundraising campaign at JustGiving.com on Wednesday night and are looking for £10,000 to pay for the private surgery.
Speaking on Thursday, Macrae says he is grateful that the campaign has been launched to help pay for the surgery that is required.
He says his shoulder problem has affected him for a while and hopes it can be sorted so he can return to action as soon as possible.
Macrae said: “I have never really had the chance to miss football through injury and I really hate this.
“It is an expensive operation as it is quite complicated to fix the problem.
“I am grateful to Brora Rangers for organising the fundraiser and it is a good idea which I think other Highland League clubs should do for their injured players.
“Most clubs have a loyal fanbase and they tend to help each other out.”

Macrae has experienced problems with his shoulder in a number of games, but experienced it worse in the 2-2 draw with Brechin City at Glebe Park in October.
He has only been able to make a couple of appearances since that injury, but has confirmed he will not play again until he gets surgery.
He said: “When I injured my shoulder at Brechin that was the fourth time I had done it in a game.
“The first time I injured it was in a match against Buckie last year and it also happened against Fraserburgh. But in the match against Brechin, it wasn’t going back in.
“It popped out last week at work, the best thing is to have the operation and then I can be back in action next season and push on.
“I did come on against Formartine United and Clachnacuddin in December, but to be honest I shouldn’t have. I was holding my arm into my chest.
“I had my MRI and although I am looking to get surgery, I thought that there is no point risking it and I am not playing right now.
“The consultation says there is a five per cent chance with re-dislocation in the future. I won’t rush back and I want to give it every chance for it to heal.”

Macrae says he hates the fact that he is not playing at the moment with Brora Rangers still on for a treble.
Having won the North of Scotland Cup in October, still in the Highland League Cup and Brora Rangers could go top of the Highland League on Saturday if they beat Inverurie Locos.
But he is grateful for the effort Brora Rangers are making to raise money to receive surgery so he can get to action as soon as possible.
He said: “I am not playing at the moment which is rubbish as I was doing alright this season.
“I thought I had a chance of being top scorer, but I will have to try again next season.
“The club have been fantastic with me ever since I joined. It is a feeling of being wanted which any player wants to be by a club.
“It is annoying being out, especially with the club doing so well as I feel that I am not part of it. We could be in another cup final and win the league and I could miss being part of that.
“It is hard when I have never been in this situation before, but we have players in our squad who have experienced being out injured for a lengthy period of time. Shane Sutherland missed two years with injury. So I feel bad saying that I could only miss six months.
“The club have been fantastic with me ever since I joined. It is a feeling of being wanted which any player wants to be by a club.”
