Broadacres Housing Association, headquartered in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, received many applications for the positions.
After a selection process, Sam Stalley (IT), Trish Ridsdale (Support Services), Angel Warbrook (Heating), Tom Johnson, and Josh Nichol (both Joinery) were chosen.
This brings the number of apprentices at Broadacres to 16.
The association aims to have at least five per cent of its workforce on apprenticeships.
Nearly 200 applicants attended an assessment centre as part of the recruitment process.
Tasks involved breaking out of an escape room and designing a desert island.
Various Broadacres staff helped select the new apprentices.
Gail Teasdale, chief executive of Broadacres, said: “Our apprenticeships offer a great route to new careers and since the programme started, we have supported 40 people in roles such as electrical, sustainability, communications, housing management, technical construction, and more.
“The scheme has grown year on year and been a great success, and we are proud to say that over half of the apprentices from previous intakes have gone on to gain permanent roles with Broadacres after successfully completing their apprenticeship, with the rest gaining permanent employment with other organisations.”

Broadacres runs a Great Apprentices Programme, which sees apprentices working with other staff to develop skills, and maximise their experience.
It also includes volunteering projects within the business.
This year, apprentices spent a day at one of Broadacres’ extra care schemes to improve outdoor spaces.
