Bridge repair works to start on A77 at Girvan next week

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to start parapet repairs to Flushes Bridge on Bridge Street on Monday, January 13.

The layby on the southbound side of the carriageway will be closed but traffic travelling on the A77 should not be affected.

Traffic on the A77 should not be affected by the works but the layby on the southbound side, outside Shake Fit, will be closed.

Works are set to last three weeks, until Friday, January 31, and will be carried out on a continuous 24/7 basis.

Works will start soon after the end of essential investigations on the A77 on Glendoune Street and Dalrymple Street, which will end on Saturday, January 11.

Subject to approval from South Ayrshire Council, space in the adjacent car park on Bridge Street may also be occupied by the works.

The works will follow “essential investigations” on Glendoune Street and Dalrymple Street in Girvan which are set to conclude on Saturday, January 11.

An Amey spokesperson said: “Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

“Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.

“This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition and safety of the carriageway structures and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.”
