Engineers from National Highways will be carrying out maintenance on the bridge.
A spokesperson said: “Works include parapet replacements and installation of safety barriers.
“To complete these works safely, we’ll need to close the bridge for five weeks from Monday, January 20 to Friday, February 21.”
The route will be shut from the junction of Wigmore Road and Deanwood Drive to Kemsley Street Road.
Letters have already been sent out to residents and Bredhurst Parish Council also issued a warning on social media yesterday.
The route will be closed for five weeks, with a diversion route in place for drivers
A signed diversion route has been set up for drivers.
It will be via Wigmore Road, A278 Hoath Way, Hempstead Road, Hempstead Valley Drive, Hempstead Road, Lidsing Road, Forge Lane and The Street.
National Highways says escorted access within the closure will be maintained for businesses and homes that usually have direct access off Maidstone Road.
Those affected must go up to closure and wait for it to be made safe to pass by workers.
