Bottles Wine Bar has new eatery called ‘Chad’s Gnashery’

Chad’s Gnashery is now open at Bottles Wine Bar in New Street, Worcester and has already received rave reviews says the owner as he looks forward to welcoming more customers.

One customer even said the food was so good he felt ’emotionally devastated’ by the experience and the couple behind it hopes more people will come along and give the food a try.

The independent business is owned by chef Chad Ingram, 37, and managed by his business (and life) partner, Hannah Webb, 34.

Both want to bring a different style of cuisine to the city but at an affordable price with New Year deals already in place so people can enjoy the food without breaking the bank.

The kitchen has been renovated and effectively doubled in size to accommodate the new restaurant which specialises in Gözleme, dishes of Turkish origin but with Mr Ingram’s own twist on the dishes.

Mr Ingram said: “Nowhere else in Worcester does Gözleme. It’s unique for Worcester. We hope it will become something of a curio in the city.”

Mr Ingram, who is originally from Warndon, used to run a pizza restaurant at the top of the Oil Basin Brewhouse in Copenhagen Street in Worcester and some of the dishes he devised here including, chicken pie and Judge Shred toppings, have been adapted to this latest venture.

As he puts it, Chad’s Gnashery has been ‘born from the ashes of the infamous Chad’s Smashery’, offering ‘a new take on Chad’s unique style of cooking inside Worcester’s Bottles Wine Bar’.

The range of cuisine includes Gözleme, tapas, dirty arancini and monthly specials.

Miss Webb said the dishes were tasty but also affordable. She said: “We’re aware of the cost of the living crisis and we want to make food affordable. We know things are difficult but try and come in and support your independents. January can be a difficult month for hospitality.”

This emphasis on affordability is reflected in a buy one get one free offer on any Gözleme throughout January on booked tables only (a meal deal for two for £10).

She added: “We are very much independent and we want to help people be able to come out and enjoy luxury without charging a premium for it. It is a very grassroots business.”

Ingredients for the meals are locally sourced, including meat from M&M Meats in St Swithin’s Street. The business also caters for vegetarians and vegans.

Explaining the division of work, Miss Webb said Chad worked in the kitchen while she carried out what she described with a wry smile as ‘chadministration’.

Miss Webb, born and bred in Lower Wick, said feedback so far had been ‘overwhelmingly super positive’, a foundation they hope to build on throughout 2025.

The couple, who have been together eight years, has also organised catering events on behalf of Bottles. Both felt Chad’s and Bottles had been ‘mutually beneficial’, offering complementary services.

As it stands, Chad’s Gnashery is open Thursday to Saturday between noon and 10pm although this may change in the future subject to demand.

The restaurant has table service but a takeaway service is also available. A striking design of a jaw bone at the serving hatch gives the business a distinctive look. The logo was designed by Estée Angeline and painted by Noora Nurmi.

The business is next open for Jam Night at Bottles on January 9 which starts at 8pm. Chad’s will be open from noon until late.

Miss Webb said she wanted to thank ‘helping hands from a very talented group of friends’ for assisting the fledgling business put its best foot forward in the New Year.
