Blue Apple Theatre to host annual showcase at Thornden Hall

Blue Apple Theatre, that supports learning-disabled performers, will host For One Night Only 2025 on Sunday, January 19.

The event will take place at Thornden Hall Performing Arts Centre in Chandler’s Ford, from 7.30pm to 9.15pm.

The showcase will feature a variety of plays, dances, songs and films created and performed by learning-disabled artists from across Hampshire.

Katie Muncer, creative outreach manager at MAST Mayflower Studios, Southampton, added: “The energy was infectious.”

Blue Apple draws performers from across Hampshire, including groups from Winchester, Southampton, Hedge End, Ringwood and Totton.

The event will showcase performers from a wide range of performing arts groups, including the Blue Apple’s singers and dancers from Winchester, the Chestnut Theatre Group and the MAST Mayflower Youth Theatre from Southampton, the QE2 Activity Centre in Bursledon, the Minstead Trust at Hanger Farm, Totton, and Branching Out with Forest Forge in Ringwood.

A video showcase of Blue Apple’s online youth group will also be presented.

The performance will be attended by several local dignitaries, including Russell Gordon-Smith, the Mayor of Winchester, who will be accompanied by his mayoral escort.

Also in attendance will be Cllr David Pragnell, Mayor of Eastleigh, alongside Mayoress Jean Pragnell, and Cllr James Baillie, Mayor of Southampton.
