Due to the extreme weather expected overnight on Saturday into Sunday 5 January, refuse collections in Leeds which were due to take place on Sunday have been postponed. They will now take place instead on the following Sunday, 12 January, and will ensure all bins that will be extra full at this time of the year are collected, albeit a week later than usual.
The council apologises for any inconvenience around these unexpected changes caused by the weather, but the safety of staff and the public by taking 60 large vehicles off the road in expected challenging road conditions is of paramount importance. Those due for collection on Sunday are asked to present their bin the following week instead, and the council thanks residents for their ongoing support and assistance.
The collections affect bins that would normally be put out on a Saturday, but have been moved because of Christmas and New Year holidays.
