A bid to convert a barn to four homes has been rejected.
West Suffolk Council planners rejected the prior approval application from Mr D Shipp for the project at Sparks Farm, in Hurdle Drove, West Row, on December 23.
A similar application for the site was also rejected in September.
West Suffolk Council planners rejected the prior approval application from Mr D Shipp for the project at Sparks Farm, in Hurdle Drove, West Row, on December 23.
Planners said the structure was not suitable for conversion to residential use, and the works required to make it so would amount to more than a conversion.
The barn, which is unused, formerly housed cattle and straw.
A delegated report said information provided for the application did not show the existing foundations and steel frame were capable to support the required works, and substantial new parts would be needed to make it suitable for homes.
The report also said the site’s location was impractical and undesirable as it would share an access route with a large farm building.
Planners said the unrestricted activity associated with this, such as the noise from passing agricultural machinery, would impact the amenity of any future residents.
They also noted the access route, off Hurdle Drove, was not suitable for the proposed greater use, but Highways noted improved access and visibility splays could be secured with a planning condition.
