On Thursday’s episode (January 9), BBC viewers saw current Traitors Linda and Minah try to recruit Anna – but to their surprise, she declined as she feared she would be “thrown under the bus”.
However, when Anna first opened the letter from the Traitors which they tried to seduce her, many eagle-eyed fans noticed they had written “We wish to recruit you as a Traitor because… you’re a strong independent woman”.
BBC viewers say the Traitors made ‘big mistake’
This has been hailed as a “huge mistake” by The Traitors viewers, as someone shared on Reddit: “If that gets brought up it’s clear that the Traitors are likely all or majority women.
“I think it could be what finally has people looking at Minah. The ghost of Elen is cackling right now.”
Another agreed: “Yeah this is true which is why I think Anna hasn’t said anything because she has so much heat on her.”
This person replied: “They wrote womEn instead of womAn as well, Freudian slip to show they are all women!”
How ‘The Traitors’ TV Show Works
“I thought the exact same thing. Soon as they wrote that I thought to myself that they just gave away that they are all women Traitors,” responded this profile.
One account chimed: “Yes! Completely agree, it was the first thing I clocked as well, and thought it would potentially be a big mistake from the traitors. Although it seems as though they’ve gotten away with it.”
“Even worse – they actually slipped and wrote ‘women’ – I’d see this slip as admitting all the traitors are female,” said this person.
Yet someone discussed: “Like most things in this show it could also be used the other way. It could be a ploy to trick the faithful.”

Another debated: “The counter-argument to this is it could equally be a pair of men who feel like they need a ‘strong powerful woman’ to add to their group since Armani was banished.”
Someone asked: “Am I missing something? ‘You are a strong independent woman’ could be said by either gender. I don’t get why there is this narrative that writing that must obviously mean the traitors are female.”
This fan queried: “Why does it suggest the traitors are all women? I don’t think it does at all.”

Also in agreement, a viewer wrote: “I don’t think it’s that big a clue tbh. Anyone could have written it, especially one of the guys to throw her off the scent.
“Even if you accept it points to a woman though, half the players in the game are women. It doesn’t really narrow anyone down.”
