Landowners and developers are being asked by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to come forward with sites that may be suitable for future development in the borough.
The borough council is taking proactive steps to move forward its Local Plan, which will guide development over the coming years.
The council has stated that its aim is to protect Basingstoke and Deane from speculative development following the publication of the Government’s National Planning Policy Framework last month.
Councillor Andy Konieczko, Basingstoke and Deane’s cabinet member for strategic planning and infrastructure
The council’s cabinet member for strategic planning and infrastructure Andy Konieczko said: “Since before Christmas we’ve been working hard to understand the implications of the Government’s National Planning Policy Framework on our borough, and planning our next steps to progress our updated Local Plan.
“We want to move forward as quickly as possible to protect Basingstoke and Deane from unwanted speculative development.
“As a result, we’ve launched a call for sites asking developers and landowners to come forward with land that could, potentially, be included in the plan for future development.
“The submissions that we receive will then be assessed in terms of whether they are suitable for future development.”
The council is calling upon landowners in North Hampshire to come forward with new sites that could be used for future housing by Monday, February 17.
Sites on ‘brownfield’ or previously developed land are being particularly encouraged.
Basingstoke and Deane is also welcoming information on sites that would be suitable for employment uses, renewable energy, biodiversity improvement and nutrient mitigation in the River Test and Itchen catchments.
Interested landowners or developers should contact the council using the site submission form available at www.basingstoke.gov.uk/cfs-2025 by 5pm on February 17.
Completed forms should be returned by email to local.plan@basingstoke.gov.uk or by post to Planning Policy, Civic Offices, London Road, Basingstoke, RG21 4AH.
