Baby pigeon rescued after 30ft fall by Vale Wildlife Hospital: update

The feral pigeon arrived at Vale Wildlife Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre on December 14 weighing just 130g.

The bird had suffered ‘minor injuries’ and is a lot more active after treatment and ‘doing well’ according to the hospital.

In an update on Facebook, Vale Wildlife Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre said: “Someone has a friend.

“The little Feral Pigeon we posted about on 17th December is growing well and now has some company.

“He/she is now self-feeding very well.

“We’ll keep you updated on progress.”

The wildlife hospital rescued more than 8,000 wild animals in 2024, the highest amount in one single year since it opened over 40 years ago.

The original post from the hospital said: “Patient 7991 of 2024 was this baby Feral Pigeon weighing just 130g.

“He/she came into us on the 14th December after falling 30ft from the nest.

“Incredibly, he/she has suffered fairly minor injuries with a few grazes to the rump and some swelling to the right elbow, which we are monitoring.

“As you can see, he/she has now fully found their voice and is a lot more active after a couple of days in care.”
