Amazon to axe popular Prime service in just a few weeks

The online marketplace will be ending its ‘Try Before You Buy’ scheme that is on offer to Amazon Prime members.

The scheme allowed shoppers to try out clothing items, shoes and accessories at home before purchasing the products.

However, Try Before You Buy will now be closing down on January 31, in just a few weeks.

Amazon confirms ‘Try Before You Buy’ scheme

Prime members will only have until January 31 to place an order using the scheme that allows shoppers to buy up to six items for trial.

After receiving the items, customers have seven days to return any unwanted items from the trial, free of charge.

Now, an Amazone spokesperson shared that the Try Before You Buy scheme’s limited reach and the growing use of AI saw a decline in its use, reports The Independent.

The spokesperson shared: “Given the combination of Try Before You Buy only scaling to a limited number of items and customers increasingly using our new AI-powered features like virtual try-on, personalized size recommendations, review highlights, and improved size charts to make sure they find the right fit, we’re phasing out the Try Before You Buy option.”

On Monday, January 13, Amazon confirmed that customers will still be able to get free returns on apparel items following the closure of the Try Before You Buy scheme.

They added that the phasing out of the scheme would allow for shoppers to get faster delivery on items.
