Amazon’s Regional Director in the North East, Richard Thompson, said: “Amazon has worked with some remarkable businesses, some of whom have helped us grow here in the North East. There are true entrepreneurs and pioneers at work and we are looking forward to seeing them appear in the nominations for the BUSINESSiQ Awards.”
The awards will be transformed for 2025 after our announcement that Amazon – a major investor across the North East – will be the headline sponsor and the venue will be none other than Wynyard Hall – one of the most prestigious locations in the region.
The event will be held on Friday, April 11 when our guests and sponsors will be able to enjoy the luxury and style of Wynyard, including the Statue Gallery, Library, Mirror Room and Ballroom before the awards are handed out in the Conservatory.

Richard said: “Amazon was started in a garage and has grown to be a global success. So we know what innovation means, and how the right business plan can be transformational.
“We would encourage as many North East businesses as possible to put their names forward for the awards – or to nominate an outstanding business they work with – so that the world can see what we are building here.”
Other high-profile North East businesses who are joining us as category sponsors include Cummins, Hays Travel and Tees Valley Combined Authority.
Mayor Ben Houchen’s team have this year chosen to support our New Business of the Year award.
He told us: “The event shines a spotlight on the innovators, risk-takers, and job creators driving the Tees Valley economy forward. These businesses are the lifeblood of our region, demonstrating resilience, creativity, and a commitment to growth. It’s always inspiring to celebrate their achievements and hear their stories.”
