Amazing pictures of this year’s Polar Plunge in Irvine

(Image: Charlie Gilmour) Hardy souls from across North Ayrshire and beyond braved the water to raise cash for charity at this year’s plunge, which was once again organised by Irvine’s Coastwatch.

(Image: Charlie Gilmour) After the big event, a spokesperson for Coastwatch said: “Today’s Polar Plunge has surpassed last years event as the biggest yet, with over 230 participants going into the water to raise money for charities. This year is our seventh event and it has grown year on year.

(Image: Charlie Gilmour) Deputy station manager Jayden added: “It’s been a challenging couple of weeks running up to the event but today went great and a good time was had by all.

(Image: Charlie Gilmour) “With this being our biggest polar plunge yet, we are happy so many people came down and supported us and the participants. It’s been a great way to start off the new year and a lot of money has been raised for good causes.

(Image: Charlie Gilmour) “A special thanks to the Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team for providing safety cover for those entering the water and the Coastwatch volunteers who made the event run as smoothly as it did!”
