Alston Moor Film to hold matinee screening in January

Alston Moor Film has decided to move its next screening back by six hours to 1.30pm, in hopes this will encourage more people to attend as they will not have to venture out into the cold and dark.

The film will take place on Thursday, January 23, during the day.

The chosen film for this screening is ‘Mrs Harris Goes to Paris,’ and is set in 1957, starring Lesley Manville and Jason Isaacs.

Mrs Harris Goes to Paris follows a cleaner as she sets her eyes on owning a couture dress, who then goes to Paris to make her dream come true.

Empire describes the film as ‘beautifully produced’ and ‘entirely uncynical niceness.’

There will be a reduced admission price for the screening, with tickets costing £6 per person, or £5 for groups of four or more.

The usual ticket price is £7.50.

Tea and coffee will also be available.

Alston Moor Film has also teamed up with the local car share scheme to help people who may struggle to get there.

If you are struggling with transport, you can contact Jane Willis on 01434 382682.

She organises the social car scheme on Alston Moor and will try to find a driver to get you there and back.

There is also a passenger lift and a stair lift at the Town Hall.
