The work is being carried out by I&G Contractors Ltd on behalf of SGN to improve the gas network in Tichborne Down. The contractors will be working Mondays to Saturdays to complete the work.
Multiple road closures have been announced. They will have signed diversions in place, with access being allowed for residents and businesses.
Work will begin in New Farm Road from Monday, January 6, for around two weeks. The road will be closed between the junctions of Perins Close and Dorian Grove.

This will be followed by approximately 16 weeks of work in Grange Road, starting from Monday, January 13, with the entire road needing to be temporarily closed.
The contractors will also be working in Salisbury Road from Monday, January 13 to Friday, February 21, with road users being asked to “Give and take” past the work site.
The South Road junction with Grange Road will be closed from Monday, February 17 for approximately five weeks.
Tichborne Down will then be closed from Monday, May 26 until the beginning of February next year.
A SGN spokesperson said: “We appreciate this work may be disruptive for local residents and road users and we assure you we’ll be doing everything we can to complete these works as quickly and as safely as possible.
