Braving the wind, runners welcomed 2025 with laps around a town beauty spot.

The New Year’s Day Bury St Edmunds parkrun attracted 183 runners who completed a 5k route with two laps at Nowton Park.

Sue Dunne, event director, said: “It went really well and it was a good turnout. Everyone seemed to enjoy it.

“It was very windy. The run director inspected the course and decided that we could hold the event safely despite the wind and everyone who came was really glad we did.”

The parkrun is held every Saturday at 9am at Nowton Park and is free to participate.

Sue said: “You can run and walk. There’s the support of everyone around and it’s good fun.”
