Ten-year-old Cotty Vicary, from Basildon, won the Recycle Week competition hosted by Aldi for her poster encouraging people to recycle.
Her design, which saw the youngster rewarded with a £250 Aldi voucher, impressed judges for its imaginative design which carried the inspiring message “the world is in your hands.”
The poster will now hang proudly Aldi’s UK headquarters to encourage employees to recycle.
Luke Emery, National Sustainability Director at Aldi, said: “This initiative has been a fantastic opportunity to engage with young minds and encourage the next generation to think creatively about recycling and sustainability.
“We received so many impressive entries and the winning design by Cotty beautifully captures the essence of what it means to protect our planet through simple, everyday actions.”
The competition was launched as part of Aldi’s Get Set To Eat Fresh initiative which is designed to inspire students aged five to 14-years-old to cook and eat healthy food.
The programme aims to help young people to build their understanding and love of nutritious food via free online resources and a range of initiatives.
