The incident was scaled down to two fire engines ahead of the stop message at around 3:30am.
Officers from Hampshire Constabulary attended the scene at approximately 12.37am, assisting with road closures whilst the fire was put out.
The police force confirmed that no injuries were reported as a result of the fire, but that it caused ‘extensive damage’ to one unit and four cars parked inside.
The force said that after carrying out further enquiries, it is now treating the incident as arson and has released a CCTV image of a man it would like to speak with.
Detective Constable Andy Robinson said: “This was a fire that caused a substantial amount of damage, as well as disruption to the local community.
“As part of our enquiries, we would like to identify the man in the CCTV image. He was seen at the commercial unit at the time of this incident.
